Superior Council
The Superior Council is the highest authority of the Metropolitan University and, as such, is responsible for the general management of the university. It is made up of the President of the university, the Rector and other 24 members. Half of its members are elected by the Metropolitan University Foundation, and the remaining 12 are chosen by the council.

Office of the Comptroller
The Comptroller’s Office performs the function of internal audit of the Metropolitan University, thus, focuses its actions in the review of the qualitative and quantitative processes of financial, accounting and administrative operations. Additionally, it conducts activities of other nature such as the development of manuals of rules and advisory procedures and functions, in matters within its competence, for organizations that require it. All of it framed within the statutory powers of the Comptroller’s Office, which are summarized in the following list:
- Ensure the adequate budget execution of the university.
- Ensure compliance of effective administration regulations.
- Inform the Superior Council, through its President, about their administration.
- Present an annual report of their activities to the Superior Council.
- Other responsibilities assigned by the Superior Council, the Statutes and the Regulations.

Development Vice Presidency
The Development Vice Presidency is the unit responsible for defining and structuring the Investment Program aimed at transforming Unimet into a world-class education and innovation center.
To carry out its mission, the Vice Presidency leads the strategies conducive to deepen the commitment of Unimet with its alumni. The purpose is to boost commitment and participation in graduates through their qualitative and quantitative contribution to the projects executed by the university to finance the modernization program of Unimet.
To this end, the Vice Presidency is responsible for the permanent communication between the university and its alumni in order to link and retain them to the objectives, and outcomes, of the education and innovation activities of Unimet.

Authorities
The management of the Metropolitan University is responsibility of:
- The President of the University, who represents the institution.
- The Rector, first academic and administrative authority of the university.
- The Academic Vice Rector, who coordinates the academic, cultural, scientific and technological activities.
- The Administrative Vice Rector, who coordinates and oversees the administration of the university.
- The General Secretary, who carries out the duties of the secretariat of the Superior Council and the Academic Council; endorses the signature of the Rector in degrees, diplomas and resolutions issued by the university; and issues and certifies the documents issued by this institution.
The Superior Council, other bodies of the university, and the university authorities, have as mission to ensure the faithful fulfillment of the institution’s purposes and preserve its guiding principles. Likewise, they ensure all academic and administrative employees, as well as teaching staff and students, conduct themselves in accordance to these precepts. They are also have the power to take the necessary measures conducive to the compliance of the precepts.
Rector
The Rector is the first academic and administrative authority of the university, and has the prerogatives and powers conferred upon him by the Articles of Incorporation, the Organic Statute and the Regulations issued by the Superior Council. In addition to exercise the highest authority, he is in charge of promotion and development, planning and evaluation in the academic, physical and economic areas, the national and international relations of the university, and personnel general management.
The position of Rector (IC) is held by Natalia Castañón.
Academic Vice Rector
The Academic Vice Rector has the following powers:
- To stand in for the Rector during his temporary absences.
- Coordinate the academic, scientific and extracurricular training activities, in addition to Library services.
- Coordinate the scientific and technological relationships of the university with the production and service sectors.
- Oversee teaching, extension and research activities, as well as the bodies in charge of carrying out these functions.
- Ensure compliance with the rules and regulations applicable to academic functions and staff.
The position of Academic Vice Rector is held by Natalia Castañón.
Administrative Vice Rector
The Administrative Vice Rector has the following powers:
- To stand in for the Academic Vice Rector and the Secretary during their temporary absences.
- Conduct and coordinate, in accordance with the Rector’s Committee, the administrative activities of the university.
- Fulfill the functions assigned by the Rector, as well as those established in the Articles of Incorporation and the Regulations of the university.
The position of Administrative Vice Rector (IC) is held by Luis Santiago Perera.
General Secretary
The duties of the University Secretary include to stand in for the Administrative Vice Rector and the Academic Vice Rector during their temporary absences; exercise as secretary of the Superior Council and the Academic Council, and make their resolutions known; endorse the signature of the Rector in degrees, diplomas and resolutions issued by the university; certify the documents issued by this institution; and to keep the general archive of this university as well as exercising its custody. Additionally, she must supervise the bodies in charge of managing the admissions process, student enrollment and control of the courses taken; ensure compliance with the academic rules and regulations applicable to students; and fulfill the functions assigned by the Rector, as well as those established in the Articles of Incorporation, the Statute and the Regulations of the university.
The position of General Secretary is held by Luis Santiago Perera.
